Hans and Ruth van Stormbroek (South Africa)

Hans was a biology teacher and school administrator for 23 years.  Ruth was a nurse practitioner specializing in perinatal care.  They left both of their professions a number of years ago to work with prisoners in the South African Penal System.  HIV/AIDS was running rampant throughout the prison population.  In their quest to find something to help them they came across CrossRoads.  Together they were trained and brought the curriculum back into the prisons.  Hans and Ruth and the Life at the CrossRoads curriculum made such an impact that the head of the parole board said he could immediately tell who went through the training and his experience showed that those who did were much less likely to return to jail after being released.  Hans and Ruth are Lead Trainers for CrossRoads and have trained 1000s of teachers throughout Southern and Eastern Africa and Europe how to use the Life at the CrossRoads curriculum.
